It’s Electric

A decade ago, zero-emissions cars seemed like a novelty. Today, luxury car brands have not only embraced the idea, but many plan to go all-electric in the decade to come (Jaguar, 2025; Bentley and Rolls Royce, 2030; Audi, 2033). In the meantime, everyone from established, beloved brands to brand-new names are wowing us with their one-upped electric vehicles (EVs).

Here are the EVs that are sure to give you a jolt.

Lucid Air Dream Edition Performance

Upstart Lucid Motors went from prototype to production on its Air sedan in just five years, and now boasts one of today’s most coveted luxury EVs. The Lucid Air Dream Edition Performance’s 1,111 horsepower, max range of 471 miles, ultrafast charging, and plush interiors might just make it your favorite daily ride. Prices start at $170,500.

Audi RS e-Tron GT

Audi calls the 2022 Audi e-Tron GT a “high-performance electric grand tourer,” noting its dual motors, 637 horsepower, 3.1-second 0-60 speed, and room for five passengers. The car also features an estimated range of 232 miles, a fast-charging capability up to 270 kW, and a sleek design featuring Audi’s first carbon roof panel that makes it as pleasurable to look at as it is to drive. Prices start at $139,900.

Pininfarina Battista Hyper GT

‘Hyper GT of the Year,’ 2021 TopGear.com awards. Villa d’Este Design Award. GQ’s Electric Hypercar of the Year. The Pininfarina Battista is popular with pundits! This all-electric quad-motor hypercar, called “the most powerful Italian car ever made” by Pininfarina for its 1,900 horsepower and 2,360 Nm torque, will undoubtedly rate highly with luxury car owners. Just 150 bespoke Battistas will be handcrafted in Cambiano, Italy, with the first deliveries expected later in 2022. Prices start at $2.2 million.

Rivian R1S

Looking for something more rugged with zero emissions? The Rivian R1S is billed as the “world’s first electric adventure vehicle.” The Launch Edition is a quad-motor, all-wheel drive with three rows, room for seven passengers, and a towing capacity of up to 7,700 pounds. It can also go from 0-60 in four seconds and comes standard with Rivian Driver+ hands-free driving assistance. Prices start at $90,000.

Rimac Nevera

With 1,914 horsepower and a potential top speed of 258 mph, the Nevera gives the Battista a run for its electric hypercar dominance. Think 0-60 in 1.85 seconds. The car features four motors, an integrated battery pack, torque vectoring for all weather conditions, and the single-largest carbon fiber piece in the auto industry, which gives its 440-pound monocoque structural integrity. Only 150 Neveras will be produced, in models including GT, Signature, Timeless, and a Bespoke edition. Prices start at $2.4 million.
